QTBIPOC Somatic Skills Group
8 weeks on Wednesdays from 10am - 11:30am
September 30, 2026 - November 18, 2026
in person
2450 SE Belmont St
Portland, OR 97214
This Somatic Skills group is offered to BIPOC queer and trans adults who are interested in strengthening their embodiment practice and their connection to the body. Through increasing our mind-body connection, we learn to access the body as a resource for experiencing greater coherence, aliveness, and connection with ourselves and others. Each week we will practice a different skill within a context of gentleness, playfulness, and curious exploration. We will have space to practice skills individually and relationally (with other group members), as well as time for group conversation/integration.
To apply for the group, please fill out the Inquiry Form Here and select “Somatic Skills Group” in the “Inquiring About” section. We will verify your benefits and then Monica or Nico will reach out to follow up. Please note that we have a limited number of slots, and so participation is not guaranteed. Any applicants not accepted will be added to our outreach list for future groups.
Eligible to attend:
- LGBTQIA2S+
- BIPOC (see statement below)
- Age 18+
- Able to commit to all 8 weeks
- Able to be present in group without the use of mood-altering substances (prescribed medication okay)
Statement on Group Identity:
This space is for LGBTQIA2S+ BIPOC participants. That means vast fields of intersections, nuances, and identities. This space will invite people from across the spectrum of visibly racialized, mixed, ambiguous, and white-assumed BIPOC participants to join, which means you will share space with people who have some overlap of experience but also some very different experiences. We (your facilitators) are two mixed-race latinx non-binary people and feel excited to share somatic skills while co-creating a space that centers queer and BIPOC experiences. If you have questions about if you belong in this group, please apply and/or reach out and we are happy to support you in your discernment.
