Harvey Roberts (they/them)

I am a white queer and trans Appalachian person. My approach to therapy is based on the belief that relationships and belonging are central to our lives. I have a deep commitment to racial and gender justice, liberation, and building a future that supports us as a collective that doesn’t blame the individual for structural oppression.

I have a postgraduate degree in counseling from Portland State University (2025), specializing in marriage, couple, and family work. Relational focus influences my therapeutic practice because I believe we primarily heal in relationship to others. I also have a bachelor’s degree in social work from Ohio State University (2015). My professional background includes working in crisis shelters, supporting houseless women, and working with LGBTQIA2S+ survivors of intimate partner violence. I have worked with queer and trans youth in the foster care system and provided counseling to incarcerated men.

I offer individual and relationship counseling, and define relationships as couples, polyamorous relationships in any format, friendships, and families (chosen or of origin). As a transgender and queer counselor, I specialize in serving LGBTQIA2S+ folks and want to create the safest respite that I can possibly offer. Professionally, I am committed to lifelong learning and continually seek out training to stay informed and sharp. I am collaborative and integrative in my approach but am grounded in being person-centered. This means that I utilize a variety of techniques based on each individual and that the focus of our session is on what you’d like to center. I employ Queer and Multicultural Theory, Liberation Psychology, Psychodynamic, Jungian, and Attachment approaches.

I am most interested in building a unique and authentic relationship with you that gives you the intentional space to better understand your behavior, relationship dynamics, and create space for dreaming.
